Day Seventy Five – 3/4’s Of The Way There

My knee was still too sore to run today and it’s killing me (not running that is). If you’d told me 75 days ago that I’d be upset and anxious every day that I couldn’t run or took a rest day from working out, I’d have laughed in your face. I went from being unable to run because I was overweight and unfit to being unable to run because I was under-eating and too weak and now here I am, fueling my body properly and it shows in my performance. There truly is no secret to weight loss and fitness; eat well and work out. It’s as simple as that. No magic tea is going to get rid of cellulite and no pill is going to enable you to run forever and the sooner this is realised by the mass of people who fall victim to the FAD’s; the better.

I still went to the gym this morning and managed a weights session (but no legs!) I focused on my upper body, training my arms and my abs. I am absolutely determined to achieve my goal of having a six pack. I’m not under any illusion that this will be easy or easy to maintain when I get there but I just want to prove to myself that I can – and anyone can do it if they want to!

My intake for the day was:

  • Apple and Grape Snack Pack
  • Nutrigrain Granola Bar
  • Graze BBQ Smoked Cashews, Peas and Corn
  • Salad w/ Chicken

I then went out for dinner after work with a friend whom I hadn’t caught up with in ages. We went to a really cool new bar that has just opened up in the centre of Edinburgh, Badger and Co. I highly recommend it! We got given a voucher for 2 for 1 at lunchtime and I am already planning when I can go back! I ended up going for 3 courses – which I never do, as the menu was just so tempting. I had:

  • Scallops wrapped in Bacon
  • Aberdeen Angus Bavette w/ Chips
  • Apple and Caramel Tart

There was also a couple of glasses of red wine and a cocktail involved, so it was quite an indulgent evening but I really enjoyed myself. I am in such a good place mentally with regards to eating and working out that I no longer stress out in social situations where food and drinks are involved. I’m happy to treat myself and I appreciate it a lot more as well because I know I’m working hard.

Hope you all have a great weekend!
