Day Fifty Four – Easter Weekend

I didn’t realise that Easter Weekend was such a big deal until I heard all the women in the gym today (whom I usually see heading off to work like me) chatting about their plans for lunching with friends and family, whilst slipping into a pair of jeans rather than a work dress. It got me feeling quite jealous as I still had a full shift ahead of me. It seems that everyone is off work for 4 days, meanwhile I’m working tomorrow as well and then have a super busy few days ahead to get our flat emptied and clean! The stress is mounting up. Brandon and I have always joked that we work best under pressure. We’re both the kind of people who can’t get things done until they NEED done; but now that time has come where everything needs done and I just wish I’d done more during the week instead of relaxing in the evenings. Thankfully, I don’t apply this attitude to my race training! I’m off Sunday and Monday and it would have been nice to have some plans to look forward to, but oh well. We’ll just have to get on with it and get it done.

I ran 5km in the gym this morning and am now consistently coming in at under 30 minutes, which I’m ecstatic about as it shows real progress and I now know I’m definitely getting faster and it’s not just a fluke or a good day. Then as I basically had the gym to myself, I decided to hit my legs HARD. I squatted, lunged and dead-lifted until I could hardly walk and I know for sure I’ll be feeling that later. I love that my legs are getting firmer, stronger and more defined. The transformation in my body in just over 50 days is truly remarkable and it’s exciting to see progress in the mirror rather than on the scale.

I got a little too into the Easter spirit with my intake:

  • Apple
  • Banana Soreen Lunchbox Loaf
  • Nutrigrain Granola Bar
  • Chocolate Tiffin (Home-made by one of the girls in my office)

And then for dinner I had an Indian Takeaway with Brandon. It’s no excuse really but the flat is pretty bare and I was late home from work so it seemed like a bit of a hassle to cook a meal. In hindsight, we should have just gotten some chicken and put it in the oven for all the effort it would have taken but I’m not going to dwell on it. I didn’t overeat or binge so I enjoyed it and it won’t be happening for a long time once we move into Brandon’s Mum’s house.
