Day Forty Three – Don’t Miss A Monday Workout

I woke up super tired this morning and was very tempted not to go to the gym but Brandon was awake and started chatting to me at 6am when my alarm went off, so it seemed ridiculous not to go when I was already awake. I kicked my ass into gear, got out of bed and decided it’d be best to start the week on a high. I’m always fine once I’m up and sipping on a black coffee.

Although my willpower may have managed to trump my mind this morning, I found my workout really tough. I did 5km and really struggled throughout the run, but despite running a lot slower I managed to complete it in under 30 minutes again (with only 8 seconds to spare!) Despite feeling a little deflated by how difficult I found my routine I was smiling by the end of it and was so glad that I got myself out of bed. After all, every single day is a chance to make some inroads towards my goals and I want to take advantage of every opportunity to improve my health and fitness. As per usual, after my run my quest for abs continued and I spent 15 minutes on the mats doing basic core work; sit-ups, crunches and Russian twists.

My intake for today was:

  • 1 Wholemeal Warburton Thin w/ Ham
  • Nutrigrain Granola Bar
  • Chicken w/ White Rice, Broccoli and Asparagus
  • Salmon w/ Thai Chilli Rice and Asparagus
  • 2 Slices of Parma Ham

I’ve had a really stressful day on the property hunt front. We’ve made 2 offers on the property we love, which were both rejected and it just feels like nothing seems to be going our way with this. It’s a horrible, tense process and it’s starting to get me really down. I’ve been overwhelmed thinking about money all day; I just want a pretty flat but I can’t get my hopes up too much. Unfortunately it’s a waiting game from here until the closing date is set. We can only cross our fingers and toes and hope that we come out on top. I’m a control freak so this does not bode well for me.

When I got home from work I made dinner and started prepping our meals for the next few days, which turned into a complete disaster. I attempted to cook brown rice and the result was a stodgy porridge-like substance; reminding me why Uncle Ben has always been my best friend. I’m not sure where I went wrong but it’s moments like this I miss living at home because Mums always make perfect fluffy rice every time!

Brandon’s decided to join me in the ‘100 Days to a Healthier Me’ journey and calls me ‘coach’. Today is his Day 1; and I’ve got lots in store for him over the next 99 days! I’m learning from my own mistakes and progress and I’ll use this to help him along the way.

It’s bedtime as another Monday draws to an end! Na’ Night.
