I made my first real decision in terms of my training (long term) today and that was deciding not to train. I woke up and my knee was still hurting, even just to walk, so I made the sensible decision to take a rest day and pray for the best tomorrow! I know how straining running on a treadmill for miles can be on the knees and I’m hoping I can recover quickly from this. I’m also praying this isn’t going to be a reoccurring issue for me throughout this journey.
I’ve been off work but I had quite a busy little morning. First, I drove to the nail salon to have my fortnightly treatment – I went for a red gel this time; sexy but a classic! After all, every girl needs a little bit of luxury in her life. Then I headed to Sainsbury’s for a few bits and bobs. We’ve had a super busy week and haven’t been in together for dinner most nights so a big food shop at the start of the week would have been wasted; I was just grabbing the necessities. I came away with a LOT of chicken to prep for this weeks lunches and some ingredients for dinner tonight. I made a chicken curry in our slow cooker and if I do say so myself, it’s delicious and pretty healthy too!
My intake for today is:
- Nutrigrain Granola Bar
- Small Baked Potato w/ Cheese
- Chicken Curry w/ Baby Potatoes, Red Pepper and Onion
After dinner, I batch cooked my chicken for the next few days and getting my meals organised again just feels so good! Meal preparation is certainly not a glamorous affair and neither is eating from a tupperware every day, but who cares when you’re meeting your nutrition and training goals because of your dedication.
I feel like I’ve spent my day in the kitchen so I’m going to settle down to my book; Mud, Sweat and Tears by Bear Grylls. I’m hooked already and had to grudginly put it down to write this! Bear has lived an incredible life and if I ever get to experience half of the amazing things that he has, I’ll be over the moon. He’s seen the world and everything it has to offer and I hope to do the same.
