Since I began this journey and dedicated my spare time to exercise, I have neglected another passion of mine; reading. I’ve always been a bookworm, making my way through 500 page novels in a matter of days and only recently did I realise that I have not read anything for a few months now. The last book I read was incredible; One Man’s Everest by Kenton Cool and perhaps I live in fear that the next book I read may not live up to it! I adore these kinds of books, written by people who have truly lived, traveled and experienced real adventure. The next book I’ve got to read is Bear Grylls; Mud, Sweat and Tears. Brandon got me it for Christmas after I read and loved Bear’s account of his journey on Everest.
When I read these books I’m transported to another world where I feel completely inspired. They make me believe that all of my dreams are possible and this motivates me to be as amazing as these people and chase all of my goals until I achieve them! I’ve always been a dreamer yet a realist at the same time; but I am now an advocate for the fact that no dream is too big and you should never let anyone tell you otherwise. No matter what it is, everyone has to start somewhere and it’s worth remembering that every expert was once a beginner.
In just a mere 23 days, I have surpassed what I even thought was possible in terms of my progress. My body is surprising me every day and even when I’m unsure I’ll be able to complete a workout, I’m pushing myself and proving I can. My workout this morning was another of purely cardio. I ran 6km then walked for 0.5km to stretch my legs off at the end. Finishing this dripping in sweat and having burned 470kcals was an awesome feeling. However, my right knee is playing up slightly when I’m running so I may need to take it easy on the treadmill for a couple of days and focus on strength training instead! I might even stay at home tomorrow and do my Kayla guides seen as I’m off work. I would rather rest my knee and be able to keep training than put myself out for weeks by pushing things too hard.
My intake for today consisted of:
- Apple and Grape Snack Bag
- Nutrigrain Breakfast Bake – Raisin
- Urban Fruit – Smashing Strawberry (just baked fruit and pretty tasty too!)
- Skinny Metcalfe’s Sweet N Salt Popcorn
- Chicken w/ Golden Vegetable Rice (Lunch)
- Chicken w/ Pasta Shapes in Tomato Sauce (Dinner)
I’m just making the most of trying to stay healthy whilst using up the food in my drawers before we move out of our flat. It means that dinners have been a little bit of a mish-mash but I’m trying to make it work with what I’ve got. Brandon was out for dinner with his work this evening so I had dinner for one and watched a movie.
Now I’m off to bed to get a good nights sleep so I can make the most of my day off tomorrow!
