Today I feel like I’ve been hit by a bus and I’m definatly glad it’s Friday! I’ve never been so happy to have two days off work and I’ll also be taking two days rest from the gym to allow my body to recover before it all begins again next week.
To finish off this week of workouts, I ran 5.5km and then quickly squeezed in some work on my legs:
- 3 sets of 10 squats – 5kg
- 3 sets of 10 sumo squats – 5kg
I decided it would be a good idea to finish my session with legs, just in case I’m sore and not walking too well tomorrow. I’ll only need to walk from my bed to the sofa! After working hard all week, I’m in for a chilled out weekend!
Todays food intake was:
- Easy Peeler
- Naked Raw Cocoa Bar
- Snack a Jacks
- Chicken and Couscous
- Fillet Steak w/ Tomatoes, Tenderstem Brocolli and Asparagus
- 1/2 Graze Veggie Protein Pack
Consistency is key for me in order to stay on track with my diet. I stick to the same meals week to week as I know what works for me in terms of satiaty and fitting in with my hectic lifestyle. You’d think I’d get bored but I haven’t thus far. I also prefer to eat little during the day; a small meal for lunch and a couple of snacks, to ensure I save more calories for the evening when I’m hungry after work. I also really enjoy sitting down to a bigger meal at night. There’s something comforting about it for me!
My weekends are quite different to what they used to be. I’ve had a quiet Friday night in with Brandon. We went for a quick sunbed straight from work and then he cooked our steaks – my favourite meal! I used to eat my steak very well done as that is how my Mum likes them and I’ve always just followed suit with that. Then I met Brandon and he introduced me to the real way to eat red meat; RARE! It was one of the biggest steaks I’ve ever eaten; I have a very full and happy belly now!
Since I decided to commit to a healthier way of life I feel like I have been less social and have not been out with friends as much. Most social circumstances in my group involve eating or drinking which generally interferes with my fitness and nutrition goals. I couldn’t get up for the gym if I was out drinking and I am trying to avoid alcohol throughout this journey as it was a major contributing factor to my weight gain throughout university! I spent my time binge drinking or eating rubbish to cure my hangover! I’m not one for sober nights our so I have thus far avoided going out with friends. However, I am going to try to find a way to have the best of both worlds; keeping in touch with the girls without compromising my diet or training.
Anyways, it’s time for a lazy weekend!
